Here are just a few things you can expect this year:
*There will rarely, if ever, be math homework. Our concepts are taught quite differently from the way you and I learned them when we were in school. To avoid confusion, we will do most all math work in class.
*Your child will have thier own Accelerated Reader goal. We start this the 2nd nine weeks. They will have 2 opportunities to check out library books each week and we have daily read-alouds in class.
*Your child will be placed in a tiered reading group according to thier reading ability. A reading backpack will come home nightly with such things as passages, word rings, or books to be practiced on with parents nightly. It just takes a few minutes. This practice can make a huge impact on your child's ability to become an even better reader!
*The week's work comes home in a Friday folder. Please look through the work and see what your child is doing. Moniter thier progress so you won't have any surprises come report card time. Keep the work at home, sign the folder, and return it back to school.
*I send home a weekly newsletter each Friday as well. It will tell you everything you need to know about what is coming up the next week. I want you to be informed.
*If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by note, phone, or e-mail.
